My name is Augustina! These days I am called Adeola more than anything, which is another of my many names. It means Crown of Wealth, which is the aspiration and prayer of those who gave me the name. I love the energy it carries and how my life has changed since I remembered who I was, and my true nature.
I started this journey i'd say from my earliest memory, of seeing my mother washing strips of bloody towels with her bare hands, drying them and using them again month after month due to money and comfort I guess.
I have always been a curious child, asking the questions, and reading the books. If I can't get my answer, find another way to get it haha! So my facination about mestruation, the womb and anything related has always been there and it has led me to amazing places, discussions and discoveries.
I made my first cloth pads around 13/14 years old after I found that disposables were pretty uncomfortable for me. I went down the rabbit hole of research, eventually leading me to make my own upcycled pads. With play, experiements, trial and error, I was able to make functional pads for me and before I knew it, friends and more. I am blessed and honoured to be a part of so many bleeding journeys until today.
Now I have a knack for holding and facilitating brave spaces whilst exploring shadows of myself and society openly. I am many things:
Artivist • Laughter Therapist • Educator • Reusable menstrual products maker and provider • Lover • Coach • Guide • Healer • wannabe doula •
But most of all, I am overflowing with love for what I do, who I am, and who I get to inspire, meet and teach in this bloody hard work. But I would not have it any other way, sure!
As we offer back to the Earth, we must take lessons from Her.
The earth is sacred. We are all part of the same fabric of creation and need to do better as caretakers of the earth. I'm just trying to make a difference in the world that we are all caretakers of.
''1 matchstick can make a whole forest fire.''
It is important that we attempt to live by the values we hold high. We can be the light in our bloodline.
